Sugarland "I Was There Love on the Inside Tour" Atlanta April 10, 2009

Ok, everyone knows this was the opening show for the tour in the US. Their hometown Atlanta. I was so excited. Most know about the Key To Sugarland contest that is also ongoing. I was at the venue 5 hours before the concert started. If I would have stayed 5 more minutes I would have got the key... I'm so mad, but hey It Happens :)

For the show. After waiting and peeking in every few minutes, they finally let us in. On our way in we were handed a bag that contained bubbles and a glowstick. I got a lovely Sugarland concert shirt, and took my seat. I was the one that had to walk across the isle to get someone to make the glow stick glow. Then Jenn and Kristian had a video play about the bubbles and the glow stick, and I officially got called a dork by Jennifer.

Luke Bryan, their opening act finally came a little late, but there was some bad weather. I love Luke Bryan's songs and his voice, and it's pretty much the same in concert. But there was something about his dancing and stage presence I didn't like all that much. Well he finished his set, and the crew began revealing Sugarland's set.

I about had a heart attack when the backstage door opened, and I could make out Annie's and Scott's head. Annie was the first one to take the stage. She made her way to the case that set across from her bass guitar's. She opened it up and pulled out a familiar sight, the white umbrellas. She was proceeded by the rest; Scott, Brandon, Thad, and Travis. BAM! like that the lights are out and the umbrellas are up. Kristian's guitar runs through the speakers. Cameras are flashing all around to illuminate the outline of Jennifer and Kristian making their way to the front of the stage. Of course we all know they were singing their single "Love". They continued with their single "Settlin'" which was followed up by the current single "It Happens". Where Jennifer might I add didn't blurr the infamous line Pshh It Happens. She ran it together :)

It was followed by the single "Want To." Where I might add she smiled a sang back and forth with me through one chorus. Then the bubbles were put to use. Jennifer grabbed a the red sequin hat and an umbrella. A bubble machine filled the are up with bubbles, and Jennifer and the band began blowing some too. The arena was soon covered. Then they began and REM cover of "NightSwimming." Which was AMAZING. Next Jenn busted out her black acoustic to help out with "Joey." Afterwords Jennifer began to describe the next song she said: "This song is about a girl. This girl was in such a hurry to grow up. She fell in love very quickly, and fell out of love what seemed even faster. If your one of those people who goes to fast this song is for you." Clearly the song was written about Jenn. It was "Already Gone". Then the entire band moved up to a semi-circle around 4 umbrellas. Jennifer had a guitar again, and they sang the bluegrassy "Genevieve". The dynamic duo then kicked the band, except for Travis (drummer) off the stage. Jennifer with a bass guitar in hand and Kristian with the electric. They played out a slightly different than traditional song "Blood On Snow." Which is expected to be on their 4th studio album. Jennifer decided to skip straight to the 3rd act, they went ahead and gave away a signed guitar, with the Sugarland/ Jennifer tattoo logo on it. Then Jennifer said she expected us to be up shacking our hips with her, as she began "All I Want To Do." The winners to the Key To Sugarland contest then came onstage, as the glowsticks and the disco ball was busted out for a dance party. They then went into "Everyday America"

A single spotlight was provided for the Grammy award winning hit "Stay" afterwords there was a small break. Then the lights revealed what seemed to be a Moulin Rouge themed set. It was elaborate for their new song "That's How I Like It" There is also and amazing 3 part harmony between Jenn, Kristian and Annie during this song. They then played their 1st single as a duo "Down in Mississippi" Then as the guitar was busted out again for another Grammy award winning song "Who Says You Can't Go Home", some familiar sights around Atlanta were displayed on the jumbo tron. Like the Varsity, Turner Field, UGA.... A familiar intro was said and the rocked it out to "Something More." I missed Annie's thriller dance :(

Then they were gone. I was thrown off. But they came back for encores. Beginning in the audience with an acoustic set up of Baby Girl. Then an amazing video which I won't give away was played as they raced back for more. Jennifer took the piano and Kristian on bass for a new song "So Long." Then the giant hamsterballs were blown up before the final performance of "Love Shack"

I wish they could have stayed longer. But It was amazing. There was some awful weather and Jenn had like the whole world there including: Mom, Her Lawyer, Her Pshychatrist, Her dentist, some of her friends, and her GYN which she added "I'm not kidding" at the end. I'm glad they came back home
